Case Study
Disney's Gnome Village
GamesMobileVisual
Gnome Village was the mobile adaptation of the surprise hit Gnome Town. The move to mobile required a full visual overhaul to account for the mobile user experience and platform performance constraints. The game design also shifted — focusing less on social interactions (Facebook hadn't yet gained a foothold in mobile games) and more on the city-building core loop.
Emily spearheaded the UI team's redesign effort. The interface was simplified to maximize on-screen space and improve performance. The team leveraged 9-sliced assets and game templates to optimize file size and download time. Many features were redesigned from scratch to work with touch input and the absence of hover states.
